2019 Jefferson Plein Air

The registration forms for the Jefferson Plein Air are now available. We will be accepting the first 30 artists who apply. New this year is a “Main Street Quick Paint”. Separate prizes totaling $1000 will be awarded for the Quick Paint. Judges for both events this year include Lorin Willey (www.lorinwilley.com) and Bonnie Paruch (www.bonnieparuchart.com). 2018 Jefferson Plein Air

The Arts Alliance of Greater Jefferson will be holding its 2nd Plein Air from June 27-July 1st, 2018.  Up to 30 artists will be painting throughout the Jefferson Wisconsin area for three days (June 27, 28 and 29).  Artists will submit up to three paintings each for judging and sale at the Woolen Mills at 222 So. Wisconsin Drive in Jefferson.

A panel of three judges will chose paintings for the following prizes:
Best of Show Purchase Award $1200
Second Place $700
Third Place $500
Fourth Place $300
Artist Choice $300

Awards will be presented at an artist reception on Saturday June 30th at 10:30am.  All paintings will be available following the awards presentation on both Saturday and Sunday, June 30th and July 1st.

Jefferson Plein Air Prizes Finalized

The Arts Alliance of Greater Jefferson has finalized the prize money for the Plein Air Event June 28th through July 1st.  A total of $2500 will be awarded as follows:

Best in Show Purchase Award – $1000
Second Place $600
Third Place $400
Fourth Place $200
Artists Choice $300

The Plein Air Prospectus has been updated to reflect the prizes, we have removed the registration date of May 1st and will continue to accept registration until our limit of 30 artists is achieved.

Jefferson Plein Air

The Arts Alliance of Greater Jefferson (AAGJ) is sponsoring an outdoor painting event and competition this coming summer.  Up to 30 artists will be capturing, on their canvases, our historic buildings, churches, the beautiful Rock and Crawfish rivers, landscapes and other points of interest throughout Jefferson over three days, June 28th, 29th and 30th.  Their framed artwork (up to 3 pieces each) will be displayed and sold over Saturday and Sunday, July 1st and 2nd, at the Woolen Mills in the Jefferson Area Business Center.

The judges for the event are William A. Suys, Jr, Paula Swaydan-Grebel, and Terrence Coffman.  They will be judging the paintings the Saturday morning prior to the sale beginning.  The AAGJ plans to award between $2000 – $3000 in prize money dependent on the finalization of sponsors and donations.

Chalk Art Contest July 24th 2016

We are seeking participants of all ages (solo and groups) to register for this year’s Chalk Art contest.

As a registered artist or group, you will get a set of sidewalk chalk (see rules for specific details) and a square of sidewalk approximately 5′ by 5′ to work with. Squares will be assigned upon check-in on the morning of the event.

Event Categories and Prizes:

One prize will be awarded in each of the following 4 categories:
• ADULT SOLO ARTIST – Over 18
PRIZE: $50 Cash Prize
• JUNIOR SOLO ARTIST – High school (Age 14-18)

• YOUTH SOLO ARTIST – Under 14
PRIZE: $50 Cash Prize
• FAMILY/TEAM/GROUP ARTISTS – Must have 1 lead artist 18 years of age
PRIZE: $50 Cash Prize

Preregistration is required. Entries will be processed in the order they are received.

Yarn Extravaganza 2016

Envision Jefferson County bursting with unexpected color as Tomorrow’s Hope, area Art Alliances and community organizations along with volunteer artisans yarn bomb their communities. Beginning in mid-July, trees lining Main Streets or other strategic locations will be decorated with lively knitted and crocheted wraps. Knitters or sponsors need to adopt their tree in advance.

Cost per tree is $100.

We plan to yarn bomb our communities on July 13, 2016, and the project will coincide with Hope Fest, July 15-16, 2016. Organizers hope to keep the tree installations up through October 10.

We are looking for donations of bright-colored yarn for the project – the brighter and more colorful, the better!

The Arts Alliance of Greater Jefferson will hold their Annual Meeting on Tuesday March 22nd, 2016 at 6:30PM in the meeting room at Jefferson City Hall.

The agenda will include:
– Proposal of nominees for changes in two board positions, discussion and voting
– Update on Public Art Project – Milwaukee St Pedestrian Bridge Lighting
– 2016 Yarn Extravaganza
– 2016 Chalk Art Contest
– 2017 Plein Air
– Discussion

We hope all current members will attend to vote on the board positions. We also encourage past and prospective members attend to hear about our upcoming plans, give us feedback, and volunteer to help us carry out these events and plans. Please feel free to invite other individuals to our meeting as well.
